Maison Osaïn presents House Montagna in Courmayeur: a contemporary chalet at the foot of the mountains

In Courmayeur, at the foot of the massif Mont Blanc, the Belgian collective specialising in the renovation of historic homes — Maison Osaïn — has transformed an authentic mountain chalet into a warm and contemporary retreat. Strategically located at the edge of the slopes, House Montagna offers a rare combination: direct access to nature, architectural refinement, and soothing privacy.

This project illustrates how historic structures can reborn with respect for their heritage, while embracing a contemporary approach to comfort, aesthetics, and sustainability.

Maison Osaïn was founded in 2022 by architect Thomas Maria Verschuren and designer Ann Butaye. Born from a shared desire to bring deeper meaning to living spaces, the project took shape—following a few personal turning points—as a clear mission: to create healthy, sustainable living environments where calm, authenticity, and care for others are at the heart of every intervention.

The duo acquires existing buildings with strong character, renovates them from start to finish in collaboration with local partners, artists, and craftsmen, and then brings them back to the market fully furnished and completed.

House Montagna was designed as a place to disconnect. The spaces, compact yet cleverly arranged, highlight natural materials and textures. Each room offers a view of the mountains or ski slopes and exudes an atmosphere of calm and simplicity.

The interior design reflects the DNA of Maison Osaïn: understated luxury, a refined colour palette, carefully selected artworks and objects, along with a strong commitment to sustainability.

This project demonstrates that it is possible, even within a relatively modest space—the chalet has a living area of approximately 280 m²—to create a high-end, balanced environment in harmony with the rhythm of nature and mountain life.

About Maison Osaïn

Maison Osaïn is a multidisciplinary platform that brings together architecture, design, art, craftsmanship, and olfactory experiences within thoughtfully reimagined homes. Each project offers an answer to the question of how to live consciously, healthily, and in harmony with the environment.

Maison Osaïn prioritises the use of natural and circular materials, working closely with local partners. Its name is inspired by Osain, a deity from Yoruba culture associated with healing and the strength of nature—values that serve as the guiding thread in every creation.
