KØGE Design publishes a lamp that plays with light diffusion

With the Boxing Ring Lamp 081, the Belgian label KØGE Design takes a new step and asserts its position as a publisher. This lamp, featuring multiple levels of light, reinterprets the raw aesthetics of a boxing ring through a lighting approach inspired by Japanese tradition.

Square in shape and encircled with silicone elastic cords, the lamp is made of stainless steel and results from a collaboration with the design label Imprécis, founded by Brussels-based architect Matthieu Doucet. Together, they created an object at the intersection of design, art, and interior architecture.

The Boxing Ring Lamp 081 is based on a two-layer design. An internal structure inspired by Japanese paper diffuses the light, while an external layer filters and sculpts it, creating a warm halo.

“It is a double-skin lamp: a first layer diffuses, then a second layer enhances, filters, and sculpts the light. The formal vocabulary evokes markers of gyms—dumbbells, machines, straightforward assemblies, exposed metal parts. The square geometry evokes the image of a boxing ring, encircled by elastic ropes. The object is retro-futuristic, almost sci-fi, a small luminous architecture with a technical structure but a warm halo.”
- Matthieu Doucet, founder of Imprécis

The practice of Imprécis is guided by intuition and naïveté, deliberately freed from overly structured design methodologies. It is a creative impulse carried through to its final form, bypassing steps of justification. The aim is to materialise an idea while preserving the spontaneity of the object.

This approach sits at the crossroads of multiple disciplines—architecture, music, cinema, imagery, and product design—paying special attention to rhythm, staging, and the expressive weight of forms.

Through this collaboration, KØGE Design asserts a clear intention: to fully embrace the role of a publisher by inviting external designers to enrich its universe. The Boxing Ring Lamp 081 embodies this direction, naturally dialoguing with interior architecture while claiming a strong presence in space.

“We are ready to fully embrace the role of a publisher, collaborating with external designers. As a true admirer of Imprécis’ work for years, it is an honor to start this editorial adventure with them and one of their designs.”
- Hadrien Bindels, founder of KØGE Design

About KØGE Design

KØGE Design is a Belgian design label, founded by Hadrien Bindels after completing his architecture studies in 2023. Synonymous with luxury, quality, durability, and timeless design, the brand creates locally produced furniture for those who value style, simplicity, and longevity. KØGE draws inspiration from the timeless purity of Japanese aesthetics, Scandinavian elegance, and a distinctly Belgian flair.

One of KØGE’s flagship pieces is the Espresso coffee table, made of solid oak, which combines aesthetics and robustness. Opposed to “fast furniture,” KØGE champions objects designed to last—pieces meant to be cherished and passed down through generations.

KØGE Design is available online and through several retailers in Belgium and internationally, including: The Oblist (Paris), AFC Collection (Brussels – Knokke), Ambertree (Antwerp), Basic.Space (USA), That Cool Living (Barcelona), Mohd (Italy), Industrial Konzept (Germany), Signe (Brussels), Dito (Brussels), Studio Vinkat (Germany), and Idealist (Lasne).

In addition to its own pieces and objects designed in collaboration with external designers, KØGE Design also regularly collaborates with various Brussels-based architects or studios, carrying out interior design and custom furniture projects for clients such as Seven, Animo, Kosto, and Oken.
