Illus celebrates the art of detail with its collection of handmade interior accessories
Created by Belgian interior designer Julie Thiers, Illus has unveiled a new series of images showcasing its collection of mirrors, interior accessories and architectural hardware. Through its creations, the Belgian design label celebrates objects that are often discreet but essential, and celebrates the art of detail.
Each piece is handcrafted in Belgium and offered in two families of noble materials (brass and nickel) in a range of finishes. Each finish reveals its own depth, tactility and personality, from evolving patinas to more refined, timeless tones.
Founded five years ago, Illus was born out of a deep desire to reintroduce poetry and craftsmanship into the functional objects of the home. As an interior designer, Julie Thiers often came up against the difficulty of finding accessories capable of adding a subtle presence without ever dominating a space. This observation gave rise to a collection conceived as a series of discreet but essential interventions in the space.
The name illus comes from the word illusion," explains Julie. Intelligent design has the power to transform spaces - to play with light, reflection and perception. Each piece is designed to awaken a gentle sense of wonder.
Belgian craftsmanship
Each Illus piece is handcrafted in Belgium by highly skilled artisans, passing through several expert hands before reaching its final form. This meticulous process gives rise to slight variations, genuine traces of authenticity that make each object unique.
Designed to evolve over time, the creations develop a natural patina that reinforces their uniqueness and character. More than just decorative elements, Illus pieces are conceived as thoughtful interventions in space.
Each creation is part of a sustainable approach, from the choice of materials to the reusable linen packaging. The result is a timeless collection that is at home in both classic and contemporary interiors.
Our collection goes far beyond simple bathroom accessories," explains Julie. They are poetic pieces - little design touches that bring beauty to everyday life.
Collaborations in exceptional locations
Over the years, Illus has been involved in a number of remarkable interior projects, ranging from private residences to boutique hotels and restaurants in Belgium and abroad.
Notable collaborations include Botanic Sanctuary Antwerp and Mas en Scène, two venues where Illus creations fit naturally into refined and timeless worlds. The Misera restaurant, designed by interior designer Bjorn Verlinde, is another project in which Illus pieces subtly contribute to the atmosphere of the place.
These collaborations illustrate how Illus fits naturally into both residential and commercial spaces, offering a harmonious blend of quiet luxury, minimalism and craftsmanship.
