Elias Van Orshaegen marks five years of creation with a solo exhibition at Obumex in Knokke this summer

This summer, from 14 August to 26 September, Obumex in Knokke presents a solo exhibition by Belgian designer and artist Elias Van Orshaegen. The exhibition marks an important early milestone in his career, bringing together five years of work since the launch of his design practice.

Born in 1995, Van Orshaegen graduated in 2019 and made his international debut during the Milan Design Week in 2021. Five years later, this exhibition brings together, for the first time, a selection of key works that chart the evolution of his practice, alongside new pieces created especially for the occasion.

Conceived as an overview of a body of work in continuous development, the exhibition explores the space between furniture, object and sculpture. Through his work, Van Orshaegen investigates how form, material and proportion can define a space. His practice is characterised by a refined aesthetic, meticulous attention to detail, and a pronounced sensitivity to tactility and atmosphere.

Within the Obumex showroom, the works enter into dialogue with the refined material culture and craftsmanship for which the Belgian brand is renowned. This shared focus on craftsmanship, precision and materiality forms the common thread running throughout the exhibition.

Set against the backdrop of the Belgian coast, the presentation also introduces a subtle shift in rhythm and sensibility. Informed in part by recent collaborations in Los Angeles, a discreet West Coast atmosphere enters the work.

Since 2010, Obumex has expanded its practice to encompass complete interior design, integrating high-end brands alongside custom-made furniture produced in its own workshops.
