CURATED 2026 transforms Mix Brussels into a contemporary design exhibition
From 25 to 27 September 2026, Mix Brussels will host the third edition of Curated, its annual event dedicated to functional design. Conceived in collaboration with Lionel Jadot, founder of Zaventem Ateliers and artistic director of Mix Brussels, the event brings together 34 designers and studios who will take over the communal spaces of the former headquarters of the Royale Belge, an iconic building in Watermael-Boitsfort.
Over three days, furniture, objects, installations and design pieces will interact with the building’s architecture, transforming the hotel into an immersive journey where contemporary creation, craftsmanship and heritage converge.
Curated is launching an awards ceremony this year. For this first edition of the Curated Prize, Lionel Jadot has chosen to invite Dimitri Jeurissen, Managing Partner & Executive Creative Director at Base Design – an international branding and design agency specialising in the creation of brand identities and communication strategies – to join him in presenting the prize.
The event will also feature two talks open to the public:
- Dieter Van Den Storm (MAD Brussels), accompanied by Özge Salihoglu (Collect-ed), will explore the links between collection design and functional art.
- Marie Pok, Director of CID Grand-Hornu, will discuss the intersections between design, architecture, science and innovation.
A SELECTION OF EXHIBITORS TO DISCOVER
- MWO Design
MWO Design is a Brussels-based eco-design studio founded by the Belgian designer and materials researcher Mathilde Wittock. At the crossroads of acoustic design, circular materials and sensory experience, the studio transforms waste and living matter into functional and meaningful objects.
Its two signature materials, Soundbounce – made from reused tennis balls – and SoundRoot – cultivated from plant root systems – explore how design can help to restore rather than deplete.
- Paul Hardy
Paul Hardy is a French architect and designer whose work lies at the crossroads of architecture, design and sculpture. Paul Hardy works with raw materials, often reused – sand, ash, concrete, steel, mineral composites – which he allows to reveal their cracks, oxidation and erosion rather than seeking to correct them.
Straddling architectural rigour and instinct, his objects maintain a tension between construction and collapse, evoking fragments shaped by pressure, heat and time.
- Raphaëlle Bosmans
Raphaëlle Bosmans is an interior architect and designer. Her practice is deeply rooted in working with wood, exploring the dialogue between craftsmanship, experimentation with materials and construction. Her recent research extends this exploration to washi paper, focusing on packaging as an act of care, protection and enhancement, through folds, seams and layered constructions.
- Pierre Coddens
Pierre Coddens is an artist specialising in the creation of sculptural objects. He develops a conceptual artistic practice that questions the boundary between art and design.
His work explores the transformation of functional objects into sculptures. He creates unique pieces and limited editions, primarily using reused materials: offcuts of untreated wood, aluminium, crystal, plaster or cardboard. This approach reveals the beauty of industrial waste whilst questioning the notion of value in our society.
- Fractall
Fractall is a design studio based in Belgium, founded by Arne Desmet. Drawing inspiration from the environment around us — particularly rhythmic architecture and natural patterns — and fascinated by manufactured materials, the objects in the Fractall collection appear minimalist at first glance, but reveal depth through unexpected surface textures.
The studio seeks to embrace technological manufacturing processes whilst infusing them with a human dimension. Despite their sculptural appearance, each object remains highly functional. Traces of the manufacturing process are often deliberately left visible, celebrating both the materials in their rawest form and the craftsmanship that brought them to life.
- Touch With Eyes
Touch With Eyes is a design duo comprising Alexander Kanygin and Anna Druzhinina. Alexander is a freelance product designer and founded his own studio in 2004. Anna is a fashion designer and founder of the local brand M_U_R. Both have taken part in various international exhibitions. Fate brought them together in a new environment and under new circumstances, prompting them to form this creative partnership. They now work in Europe.
Travelling the length and breadth of Europe in a car converted into a studio, they have been able to work ‘on the move’ – in fields and on beaches, in car parks or deep in the mountains. The world around them – with its natural surroundings and the traces of human activity found even in the most remote corners of Europe – has become their main source of inspiration and the starting point for their work.
- paulineplusluis
After studying applied arts and cabinetmaking in France, Pauline Capdo and Luis Bellenger found themselves in Belgium, where they completed their training with studies in industrial design at Saint-Luc Tournai and La Cambre. In 2017, they founded their studio in Brussels and devoted themselves to creating furniture and objects, particularly lighting.
Attentive to their surroundings and scenes from everyday life, paulineplusluis capture images that resonate with our collective memory and reinterpret them through projects with a strong narrative dimension. To bring their ideas to life, they favour simple, understated and accessible materials, often borrowed from other fields and repurposed in unexpected ways.
Paulineplusluis are part of the MAD Brussels Incubator, a support programme that offers designers not only a creative space but also a personalised mentoring programme.
- Basile Boon x Uta studio (Beno Caetano)
Basile Boon is a visual artist whose work explores identity, mythology and ancient symbols, whilst remaining firmly rooted in the present. After studying theatre and architecture, he initially turned to craftsmanship, experimenting with various mediums.
Uta Studio is a sculptural design studio that focuses on creating unique pieces, furniture and functional objects, exploring the possibilities offered by an approach that goes beyond their usual function.
For Curated, they have come together to undertake a playful exploration of poetry, material and form. The project stems from a shared desire for artistic creation and craftsmanship, where objects become vessels for stories, symbols and gestures.
- Clément Pasquier Studio
At the crossroads of object design, interior architecture and scenography, Clément Pasquier’s practice combines observation, analysis, fabrication and experimentation. He prioritises precision over effect, and real experience over the image.
His furniture and objects emerge from drawing and material: reuse, repurposing, industrial references, unexpected materials, setting static objects in motion, and combining elements not intended to coexist. Familiar forms become unstable, paving the way for new sensations and unexpected poetry.
Rather than demonstrating ideas, his work creates the conditions for an experience. Objects become interfaces between function, perception and imagination. Every detail is justified. Ornament is not excluded; it must be earned.
- Grou Serra
Grou Serra’s research centres on a particular relationship with modern architecture, as well as with the materials and forms of Baukunst. It is through this relationship with the built environment that Serra develops his own way of conceiving architecture, an approach that resists the temptations of a culture of fashion and the market, reflecting a deliberately embraced connection to a cultural tradition that redefines the terms of unbroken continuity.
- Elisa Uberti
After fifteen years in the fashion industry, Elisa Uberti chose to reconnect with craftsmanship and develop a more sensitive and timeless practice. An artist and designer, she has set up her studio in Roubaix, France – a veritable creative laboratory where art engages in dialogue with the raw simplicity of stoneware, her material of choice.
There, she creates hand-crafted sculptures that invite contemplation through forms that are both organic and architectural. She also occasionally combines ceramics with other materials, such as wood and textiles, thereby enriching the dialogue between textures and natural forms.
- Casper Jacquemyn x Diego Delay
Diego Delay’s practice centres on the fluidity of lines, exploring how natural forms can be reproduced in an industrial, manufactured material: aluminium sheet. He seeks to capture an organic patina of time and to preserve moments of transition, thereby transforming what is normally subject to the passage of time and change into something fixed and enduring.
Working exclusively with solid wood, Casper Jacquemyn reinterprets the traditional dovetail joint to make it much more than a simple construction technique. By transforming this joint into an autonomous form, he develops modular systems of interlocking profiles that give rise to objects that are both sculptural and functional.
- TRY AGAIN
TRY AGAIN is an upcycling initiative that connects surplus industrial materials with designers to encourage their creative reuse in the fields of design, architecture and art.
The initiative is led by Impact Valley, a social innovation agency, and TAVU, a visual communications agency, with the support of MAD Brussels. It offers creatives the opportunity to develop upcycling projects and contributes to the creation of new sustainable value chains centred on reuse.
