CURATED 2026: 34 designers take over Mix Brussels for the third edition

From 25 to 27 September 2026, Mix Brussels will host the third edition of Curated, its annual event dedicated to collection design. Conceived in collaboration with Lionel Jadot, founder of Zaventem Ateliers and artistic director of Mix Brussels, the event brings together 34 designers and studios who will take over the communal spaces of the former headquarters of the Royale Belge, an iconic building in Watermael-Boitsfort.

Over three days, furniture, objects, installations and design pieces will interact with the building’s architecture, transforming the hotel into an immersive journey where contemporary creation, craftsmanship and heritage come together. Participants include FabBRICK, , Mathilde Wittock (MWO Design), Alexandre Labruyère, Dirk Meylaerts, Clément Pasquier Studio, Paul Hardy, Glass Variations and Pierre Coddens.

New for 2026

This year, Curated introduces its inaugural award. For the first edition of the Curated Prize, Lionel Jadot has invited Dimitri Jeurissen, Managing Partner & Executive Creative Director at Base Design, an international branding and design agency specializing in brand identity and communication strategy, to join him in presenting the award.

More than a fair, a collective experience

Curated takes a different approach to traditional fairs. Far removed from the aesthetics of traditional ‘white cubes’, the event presents itself as a gathering where designers, craftspeople, artists and visitors share a single living space.

This vision builds on the one developed by Lionel Jadot at Mix Brussels: that of a true creative laboratory where design is never purely decorative, but constantly evolving. A place where contemporary design, art and craftsmanship interact naturally with their surroundings. Where boundaries blur to make way for unexpected encounters.

The open-plan exhibition design, inspired by functionalist principles and the minimalist set of ​ Lars von Trier’s*Dogville*, invites the public to move about freely, discover the works in their context and meet the creators.

This spirit of community is also reflected in the organisation of the event: exhibitors are invited to stay at Mix Brussels throughout the weekend to encourage exchanges, collaborations and encounters that extend the experience beyond the exhibition.

Among this year's new features, Curated is also partnering with Hier to design the event's reception structures. The studio will create an installation at the entrance serving as a welcome desk, as well as custom structures for the drinks area, the brunch, and the various hospitality spaces.

ABOUT LIONEL JADOT

Born in 1969, Lionel Jadot, based in Brussels, is an interior architect, designer, artist, filmmaker and adventurer. His work brings different disciplines into dialogue with an almost alchemical approach, transforming discarded materials into unique creations.

“I don’t throw anything away; I collect it. I don’t have green fingers; I experiment with cuttings and unnatural combinations .”

Jadot effortlessly blends the past and the future, combining wood and metal, mineral and plant, the ancient and the contemporary. He conceives organic forms that generate energy, capable of bridging different eras whilst challenging conventions.

His world draws as much from retrofuturism as from gothic comics or the imaginations of Moebius, Jodorowsky and Blade Runner. Each of his projects combines history, innovation and imagination. Whether he is reimagining a building or creating a hybrid object, Lionel Jadot invites us to enter a world where reality constantly rubs shoulders with the strange.

For him, design is never merely about form:

“I pay close attention to the interplay between two materials.”

Through Zaventem Ateliers and his design philosophy, he envisions spaces and objects capable of growing, adapting and evolving over time, ceaselessly transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.

ABOUT MIX

Mix is housed in a monumental modernist building dating from 1969, formerly the headquarters of Royale Belge. Its powerful and assertive architecture does not seek to erase its history; on the contrary, it chooses to engage with it.

More than fifty artists and designers — many of whom are from Zaventem Ateliers — have contributed to the project, not merely to decorate the building, but to help transform it and become an integral part of its evolution.

From the very first sketches, Mix was never conceived as merely a hotel. It is a living organism combining a hotel, several restaurants (Timber, Romeo et Joule), co-working spaces and a cultural forum, brought to life thanks to the expertise and artistic sensibility of dozens of creators.

Every detail tells a story: from the brass coat rack crafted by Fonderie Woit to the 157-metre concrete counter sculpted by Bram Vanderbeke, each element is the result of a dialogue between craftsmanship, creativity and intention.

ABOUT THE COLLABORATORS

MAD Brussels is a Brussels-based platform dedicated to fashion and design. It supports designers, craftspeople and creative entrepreneurs through exhibitions, residencies, professional guidance and international promotion.

Through its galleries and a carefully curated programme, MAD showcases both emerging talents and established designers, whilst fostering dialogue between collection design, craftsmanship and innovation.

MAD Brussels connects local creatives with international networks, facilitating collaborations, market access and visibility at trade fairs and cultural events.

A Belgian journalist and exhibition curator, Marie Pok holds a degree in Romance philology. She began her career covering the art market before specialising in journalism focused on architecture and design, disciplines for which she developed a genuine passion.

In 2006, she founded Brussels Design September, a festival entirely dedicated to design.

Since 2012, she has been director of the CID Grand-Hornu, where she champions an open and committed vision of design. Beyond aesthetics or luxury, she is interested in the processes of design, manufacture and distribution that shape the objects of our daily lives.

Dimitri Jeurissen moved to Brussels during the golden age of advertising. Whilst still studying graphic design at La Cambre, he founded the studio Base Design.

After a brief career as a designer, he became artistic director for brands such as Loewe and Delvaux, before taking over as creative director of Base’s New York office.

Today, he runs Base Design with the keen eye of an exhibition curator. Curious by nature, he continues to explore new creative territories, often inspired by the many books still waiting to be read on his bookshelves.
