Art Antwerp expands its international gallery list for the third edition of the art fair

Art Antwerp, the contemporary art fair organised by Art Brussels, is set to return for its third edition from Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 December 2023 at Antwerp Expo. This year, the fair welcomes 72 participating galleries from 12 different countries. Among these 72 galleries is a mix of well-established galleries with over a decade of contributions to the art world, as well as young and exciting galleries. Featuring a strong programme, half of the galleries come from Belgium, of which 16 of these galleries are from Antwerp itself, while the other half, totaling 37 galleries, come from abroad, keeping the DNA of the fair international and most definitively strongly locally rooted. 

Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic in December 2021, Art Antwerp thrived last year for its second edition by welcoming nearly 12,000 visitors, establishing itself as a prominent fixture in the Belgian contemporary art calendar and has since been able to count on the support of main partners Delen Private Bank and Bank Van Breda. Antwerp's rich artistic heritage and vibrant contemporary art scene make it an ideal host city for this emerging art fair. 

The fair distinguishes itself by providing a platform for contemporary art galleries to showcase a diverse selection of established and up-and-coming artists. Unlike larger art fairs, Art Antwerp offers an intimate atmosphere that fosters personal connections between collectors, art lovers and galleries, encouraging meaningful conversations. Art Antwerp is set to be an ambitious smaller-sized contemporary art fair and a major player in the city of Antwerp.

GALLERIES

72 galleries are participating in the third edition of Art Antwerp. 51% of the galleries come from abroad (35 Belgian galleries versus 37 international galleries). The representation of countries is as follow: Austria, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, UK and USA. ​ 

22% of the galleries (#16) are based in Antwerp and 32% are new participating galleries (#23) at the fair.

Hosting Committee

The fair works with a Hosting Committee whose role is to select the participating galleries "by invitation", guaranteeing the same high quality of exhibitors for which Art Brussels is known. The selection is based on the profile of the gallery. Galleries have a carte blanche in presenting their booth project. 

The members of the Hosting Committee are: Myriam Attali (from Galerie Lelong & Co., Paris, New York), Jason Poirier dit Caulier (from PLUS-ONE Gallery, Antwerp), Will Lunn (from Copperfield, London) and Alexia van Eyll (from Nino Mier Gallery (Los Angeles, Brussels, New York, Marfa).
