Art Antwerp, the contemporary art fair organised by Art Brussels, returns to Antwerp Expo from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 December 2026, bringing together 78 galleries from 9 countries for its sixth edition.

Since its launch in 2021, Art Antwerp has developed a distinctive identity as a boutique fair, combining a focused selection of galleries with the cheerful and convivial atmosphere of the end-of-year season. Its invitation-only selection process, overseen by the Invitation Committee, brings together a considered mix of established and emerging galleries, with a strong emphasis on curated presentations that offer a focused approach to artists and their work.

The previous edition welcomed 14,326 visitors, confirming Art Antwerp’s growing role within Belgium’s contemporary art landscape. For its sixth edition, the fair continues to bring together galleries and artists from Belgium and abroad, with a selection that reflects the diversity of the contemporary art scene.

Following its successful introduction in 2025, the Art Antwerp Art Advisory Desk will return for the 2026 edition. The initiative offers visitors guidance throughout the fair and facilitates connections with participating galleries, helping both first-time visitors and experienced collectors navigate the selection and discover artists and works suited to their interests.

Art Antwerp is also proud to count once more on Delen Private Bank as its sole main partner.

Art Antwerp is an inter-regional fair, with a strong Belgian foundation: 47% of participating galleries are based in Belgium, while a further 46% come from neighbouring countries, including the United Kingdom. The remaining 7% travel from further afield, underlining the fair’s growing international reach.

The second edition of the Art Antwerp Acquisition Prize, with the support of Delen Private Bank

Following its successful first edition in 2025, the Art Antwerp Acquisition Prize, with the support of Delen Private Bank, returns for the 2026 edition.

In 2025, the inaugural prize was awarded to Laure Prouvost, represented at the fair by Galerie Nathalie Obadia. Her work Sweaty Cuddle was selected by the jury and acquired for the collection of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA).

For the 2026 edition, an acquisition budget of up to €10,000 will once again be made available for the purchase of one or more artworks presented at the fair. The selected work(s) will join the collection of M HKA – Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp and will be presented as part of a major exhibition celebrating the museum’s 40-year collection, opening in 2027 and running for six months.

Statement by M HKA Regarding its Acquisition Policy

M HKA – Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp – is open to a wide range of artistic practices, disciplines and media that can contribute to the further development of its collection. There are no substantive restrictions regarding geographic or cultural context. Preference is given to works that open up new perspectives on art, culture and society and that can form meaningful connections with existing collections, lines of research and curatorial narratives within the museum.

The M HKA is a leading museum for contemporary art and visual culture. Deeply rooted in the Antwerp avant-garde yet strongly connected to the international scene, it has built upon the pioneering role of the International Cultural Center (ICC), Belgium’s first public institution for contemporary art.

The collection encompasses regional and international contemporary art from the avant-garde of the 1960s to the present day and evolves in its dialogue with the multipolar world of today. In doing so, M HKA focuses on the interplay between local and international art histories and on the many perspectives that characterise the contemporary world.

Research is an essential part of the museum’s operations. Through its collection, research, and the Center for Art Archives Flanders (CKV), the M HKA contributes to documenting, studying, and making contemporary art and its history accessible.

The selected artwork will be added to M HKA’s collection and presented as part of an exhibition highlighting the fortieth anniversary of M HKA. This exhibition will run from April 4 to October 17, 2027.

The Collectors’ Cookie Tin – supporting KickCancer

Since its inception, Art Antwerp has been supported by Alain and Hilde Verleysen, a collector couple from Flanders and passionate patrons of emerging artists. Through their private collectors' space and ongoing commitment to the contemporary art scene, they have consistently championed young talent.

For this edition, they have developed a heartfelt initiative to support the fair’s wider artistic ecosystem. As owners of a bakery, they have created a limited-edition metal biscuit tin featuring an enamel reproduction of a signed artwork. Each cookie tin is available for €100, with all profits benefiting KickCancer, the charity dedicated to advancing research into paediatric cancers.

For Art Antwerp 2026, 26 artists participate in the project. Alain and Hilde Verleysen have acquired the 26 original artworks, while 60 signed and numbered editions of these originals by the participating artists are available for sale through ‘The Collectors’ Cookie Tin’ initiative supporting KickCancer. ​

Should any cookie tins remain after the fair, the Verleysens will donate them to museums in Flanders, with the proceeds supporting the receiving museums.
