Art Antwerp 2025: End of Fair Report

The Boutique Fair reports very strong sales and welcomed 14,326 visitors.

Art Antwerp 2025 (on view from 11 to 14 December 2025 at Antwerp Expo) has firmly established itself on the European art fair circuit. With a spirit of discovery and a welcoming ambiance, enhanced by its strategic location in a city celebrated for its avant-garde culture, this fifth edition of Art Antwerp realized great numbers in terms of sales and visitors.

The fair reaffirmed its reputation as a boutique fair, offering a warm, engaging, and festive atmosphere. It showcased a carefully curated mix of local and international programming, delivering a truly personalized experience for participants and visitors alike. This tailored approach attracted 14,326 visitors in total.

“Over the past few years, Art Antwerp has been on a clear and steady upward trajectory, and this edition confirmed that momentum, fully in line with last year’s success. In the context of a slower art market, Art Antwerp once again provided a timely and welcome boost in sales ahead of the year-end period. Beyond the results, what truly stands out is the atmosphere: a fair that is genuinely appreciated by galleries, collectors, and visitors alike. The energy was unmistakably positive, with meaningful exchanges taking place throughout the aisles.
Even for well-established Antwerp-based galleries, Art Antwerp continues to attract a renewed and expanding audience. While it remains essential to reconnect with the local collector base, we are particularly encouraged to see new relationships emerging and to witness the growing presence of a new generation of collectors.”
— Nele Verhaeren, Director of Art Antwerp

The Art Antwerp Acquisition Prize, a new prize supported by Delen Private Bank, was awarded to Laure Prouvost, represented at the fair by Galerie Nathalie Obadia. Her work Sweaty Cuddle was selected by the jury and will be added to the collection of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA).

Other new features at this year's fair included free guided tours in English and Dutch and an Art Advisory Desk, a service that helps the public find their way around the fair and engage in conversation with the participating galleries with confidence.

“It was truly rewarding to personally guide visitors — often occasional art buyers — through Art Antwerp and offer them additional context. The personal approach was greatly appreciated and elevated their visit, frequently leading to meaningful connections and often to an acquisition. »
— Gaël Diercxsens, Head of the Art Advisory Desk

The fair also welcomed more than 50 national and international museum and collector groups, including those from Young Collectors Circle, Club Fouquet (KMSKA), Art Tip Top (collectors club Lille), Vrienden v/h S.M.A.K., Fondation Boghossian, Amis du Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts de Belgique, M HKArt Circle, and many others.

Collectors highly appreciated the size of the fair, the ambiance, the high number of solo and duo presentations (17 for 79 galleries) and the unique mix of established artists and emerging talent across this 'boutique fair'.

“The 2025 edition of Art Antwerp confirms its growth as a leading, welcoming, and internationally acclaimed art fair. With a carefully curated and diverse line-up of 79 galleries from 11 countries, the fair offered an intimate and inspiring setting where artists, collectors, and art lovers connected in a personal way—exactly what makes Art Antwerp unique!”
— Philippe Leeman (Antwerp collector)
“To feel and understand the beating heart of contemporary art in this country, you choose Art Antwerp as a meeting place where creativity, vision, and refinement, international voices and local strength merge into a dynamic and interactive dialogue.”
— Tom Coeckelbergh (Antwerp collector)
“I’m extremely positive about the quality of the fair. Having visited ten fairs this year, I can honestly say the level in Antwerp stood out, with a strong presentation of high-quality works, particularly by female artists. The art offer in Antwerp is exceptionally strong.”
— Alejandra Castro Rioseco (MIA Art Collection)

The fair also benefited from and contributed to the attractiveness of the Antwerp art scene, with numerous exhibitions in partner museums such as KMSKA, FOMU, MoMU, M HKA and Antwerp based galleries.

With the generous support of its main partner Delen Private Bank, Art Antwerp has cemented its role in the city of Antwerp as a platform for international contemporary art, firmly positioned at the heart of the city's flourishing art scene.

This fifth edition of Art Antwerp could also count on the support of the City of Antwerp and visit.flanders.
